How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Inno Tire Hold HD on our 2024 Subaru Outback wagon. The tire hold HD is a heavy duty bike carrier that's gonna work for your heavier e-bikes up to 80 pounds each, and for any of your specialty bikes like carbon fiber frames, unconventional step-through bikes, or something that has a fancy paint job where you wanna have no contact to the frame. Let's take a look at the tilt feature that's included on our bike carrier, and see what type of access it allows us to our hatch area. And I'm just gonna, yeah, so I'd just give it a little bit 'cause we come kind of close with our handlebars, but overall it would, you still have really great access to the back of your vehicle, so that is something to consider as well. Hi. John with etrailer. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nice, dependable, lightweight bike rack. This here is the Swagman XC2 Platform Style bike rack that we installed on our 2024 Subaru Outback. So right off the bat, I do wanna let you know that if you have a carbon frame bike, this isn't gonna be the bike rack for you because even though it's a platform style, we're still making frame contact right here. Now, if you have a regular bike without a carbon frame, this is great still because this is padded, and it holds your bike securely. more

The Destination 4 is one of my favorite bike racks to recommend to people just because it is compact, it's lightweight, it works really well, and it's at a great price point. So there's a lot of things that this bike rack has going for it, and the versatility for different types of bikes is awesome too. But it also has its downsides, like it doesn't tilt away. So if you do need to open up the hatch on your Forester, you are gonna have to remove your bike and lower that mast in order to lift that door up. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Subaru Impreza- Video
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination 4, and we're gonna take a look at how it fits our 2023 Subaru Impreza. So the Destination 4 is one of my favorite bike racks because it can carry around four bikes, it's compact, it's lightweight, and it's affordable. Now, it also has its downside though, which is it has a maximum weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike, plus it does not tilt away. So if you have extra heavy electric bikes over 35 pounds, I do recommend taking a look at something else. Those are gonna be more premium racks though, like the Saris MHS might be your best bet. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Ascent- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have Yakima OnRamp 2-Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So, the Yakima OnRamp is definitely designed for your electric bikes. It has an included ramp attached to the bike rack. Great if you're the type of person that forgets to bring the ramp like I am and it is popular for the reasons of that ramp being able to adjust this and having a lot of versatility for how it secures the bikes. Now for the Subaru Ascent though we're gonna talk about how it fits with this vehicle. I personally think it's a great fit, especially since the height of the hitch on the Ascent makes it pretty necessary for ramps for those heavier bikes. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Swagman XC2 two bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So with this bike rack, it's gonna be really popular because it's a very entry level bike rack so it's affordable, but it also allows you to carry around your bikes on a platform rack rather than swinging around on a hanging rack. So if you're not interested on paying extra for features you may not need, this is something that you might consider. Now, there's definitely some downsides to that too, like you can't tilt it away, there's no locks, you have a 35 pound per bike weight capacity, things like that. So we'll talk about that, but we're gonna focus on our Subaru Ascent here to see if it'll be a right fit for your car. The very first thing I'd like to talk about is the clearance between the bike and the car. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have a Kuat Piston Pro bike rack for four bikes, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So, this is gonna be a pretty impressive bike rack. It's a large rack that's for sure, and it can carry four bikes, but it also has the Kuat at one touch pistons to make it quick and easy to load and unload those bikes. So, you just press a button and the arms swing up just like that, that's a pretty cool factor for when you're on the trails, and at the parking lot, and you're ready to grab your bikes and go. But there's some things you have to consider when you use this with the Ascent. One of the main things I've noticed with this bike rack is that the Ascent has a lot of ground clearance, the hitch sits really high off of the ground. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Kuat Transfer V2 3 Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So the Kuat Transfer is pretty popular for the reasons of it's a good premium rack without being as much of a premium price as the Kuat NV. So if you like Kuat bike racks, but you're looking for something that's maybe slightly more affordable that's where the Kuat Transfer comes in handy. Also, it has a unique goalpost design that makes it easier for you to grab your bikes and load them up as well as once it's in the compact position then you have more visibility behind your vehicle. But with how it works on the Subaru Ascent unfortunately this bike rack does not tilt down far enough away for you to fully open up your hatch door. So if that's a very important feature for you this might not be the best fit for you and I have some suggestions as alternatives if you stick around for the end of this video but first, I'll show you what I mean. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer and today we have the Yakima EXO system. So we currently have the double up bike rack and the enclosed cargo carrier, which is the gear locker. We'll take a look at how this system fits our 2021 Subaru Outback wagon. This setup is great if you're going for a big adventure, you're going to riding, need a bike rack that can carry your bikes different shapes and sizes. But you also need some cargo space for your helmets, your gear, your shoes, maybe your tents. This is a great way to store all of that. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com, today we're gonna be checking out the Saris MHS platform system on our 2022 Subaru Outback wagon. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack, holds the bike by the tires, which really opens it up to a bunch of different style bikes, let's check it out. The different style of bikes this can carry are kind of unlimited because you don't have to hold it by the frame, so then even carbon fiber bikes can go on here where we usually don't recommend those on the hanging style because that could damage the frame but, holding 'em by the tires makes it far easier. Not only that, there's not gonna be a center mast here that's in the way on some other platform style bike racks, so it's gonna help with loading and unloading, and we'll get to that in a little bit but, just kinda want to point out some quick positives about it. Another thing, is it can tilt away with the bike fully loaded, so let's go ahead and do that, that way if you forget something in the back of your Outback or you wanna throw something in there and you got everything loaded, you don't have to take everything off just to get to the back of that so, we'll just pull on this lever down here, and the whole thing tilts down to about there. It's even got a stopper, just in case the hitch is a little bit lower, it would stop before it goes fully to the ground, which is nice because some of those bike racks that do tilt, if it is low you have to move your hand away from that handle before it touches the ground, this one's got a stopper. more

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS platform-style bike rack on our 2018 Subaru Outback wagon. Now it's a platform-style rack that holds the bike by the tires. We've got two wheel hoops, one on either end, and that's giving a good, strong hold on the bike. We've got some secondary points of contact, but those are the main ones, and that's gonna mean zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame. Those secondary points of contact include this strap down here at the bottom holding our back wheel down, as well as this little wheel block up front that's just limiting the movement of that front tire. more

Hey everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2023 Subaru Outback. And while at first it may look like you can mount your bike in on either side, there is actually a ratcheting system for your back strapped wheel as well as a wheel chock for your front wheel just to help it sit in there better. Now, one of the big advantages of this rack is that does come with a tilt away feature. So we just go ahead and pull the lever here at the bottom allows us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle, allowing us access into the truck. And there's enough clearance between the pedal and our trunk that I'm not really worried about it but this would allow me to grab my helmet, my shoes or either put them up when I'm done for the day. more

RockyMounts GuideRail 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hey, everybody. Cooper here from etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at our RockyMount GuideRail on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Our bike rack's going to be a platform style bike rack, individually weighted for 60 pounds each per bike, and as you'll be able to notice too, is a frameless contact support, so it's going to be really great for those carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, as well as our e-bikes, too. Now obviously, with our bikes loaded, we're not gonna have access into our trunk, so if we actually pull this lever down here, it's going to allow us to tilt our bike away from our vehicle, allowing us pull access into our trunk. Now, whether we have our water, our helmet, our shoes back here, this allows me a lot more space in to just be able to grab my items, whatever I need before I start, or at the end of our journey. Now, in order to get our bike rack back up, we just actually go ahead and grab it and lift up until we hear that clip noise. more

Hi, everybody. Cooper here from etrailer and today we're going to be taking a look at our Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Our bike rack is a two platform style bike rack and it is going to have that frame contact. That's actually what's keeping it on our bike here and then additional straps here down on the wheels keeping it into place. While our center mast touching our frame means that carbon bikes aren't gonna be available for this, as well as the bikes individually of being rated for 35 pounds each. CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium hanging-style bike rack, and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Subaru Outback. This hanging style-bike rack holds the bike by the frame, and let the rest of the bike hang down below it. It's got three points of contact, two straps up top, and a third one on the side here, to limit our side-to-side movement and bike-to-bike contact. Now, I will say that this type of strap, the stretchy rubber material, although it is kind of nice for just weather resistance and ease of use, it's not the most secure, and there is still quite a bit of side-to-side movement with the bike. But, you can always add an extra strap after the fact to help cinch things down. more

Now this is gonna be a bike rack designed for bikes with fenders. I've got our front wheel hook set up kinda in the position that you'd have it if you had a front fender that maybe came out through about here. Now more often than not with a bike rack that uses a front wheel hook like this, you have to put it pretty much as close to the forks as it can go for maximum security. more

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Rockymounts MonoRail two bike rack and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Now this is going to be a platform style bike rack that holds the bike in these trays with our wheel cradles and primarily by our front tire using the wheel hook. The wheel hook is really nice because it makes hookup really straightforward and simple but it also makes it compatible with carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it can support some e-bikes too, which is exactly what we have on there today. Like many other platform racks, it also features a really nice ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded. more

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Hitch Bike Rack how it fits on our 2023 Subaru Outback wagon. The Sport Rider SE is very popular first and foremost because it is able to get up to 80 pounds per bike loaded up. So it's a platform style rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 80 pounds, which is a lot. So it's gonna be really useful for your e-bike purposes. If you did wanna mix and match this with something with a carbon frame or a really nice paint job we'd recommend against it 'cause although it does make primary contact here on our frame hooks and they're padded, it still does make that contact there and could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

The Sherpa is a two bike platform style bike rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 40 pounds each. It's going to hold onto our bikes as a primary means of contact through these wheel hooks as well as one strap down at the bottom. So if you did want to use this with your carbon frame bikes, you definitely can. Maybe you just have a really nice paint job you can do that too. more

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 Hitch Bike Rack, how it fits on our 2023 Subaru Outback wagon. The NV is a two-bike platform style bike rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds a piece. It's going to hold onto our bike primarily with this front wheel hook here as well as one additional strap down at the bottom. So you can get some heavier bikes on here, but say you wanna mix and match maybe a carbon frame bike or you have an alternative frame style bike with a really aggressive design, you can accommodate those two without taking damage to the frame, because we don't make any contact with the frame. One of the nice benefits of this rack is that it does have the ability for it to tilt away with the bikes loaded up, so we'll show you that early on. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're gonna be checking out the Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Mounted Bike Rack. First impressions of the rack on the back of the Subaru, I think it looks right at home. You know, just about any accessory you put on an Outback or any Subaru for that matter, you know, blends right in, kind of matches that image. And that holds true with this particular rack as well, at least in my opinion. Something else I noticed too is where it's gonna sit in relation to your back window, where the bike is gonna sit. more

How's it going, everybody, it's Ethan with etrailer, here. Taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2016 Subaru Forester. Designed with e-bikes in mind it does support a handful of different varieties of frames and sizes with these clamps that swivel. Supports up to 66 pounds per bike. It is rated for RVs and travel trailers as well. But something to keep in mind is that if you are off-roading or using this on an RV, that it only supports up to 40 pounds in that case. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2016 Subaru Forester- Video
How's it going everyone It's Ethan from etrailer here today, taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E on our 2016 Subaru Forester. The rack supports a weight of up to 70 pounds per bike, which is perfect for e-bikes. It is rated for use with motor homes but it is not for travel trailers. So if that's something that's important to you, just keep that in mind. Our bike is held in place primarily through this padded frame clamp in addition to three straps on the bottom. This clamp does, like I mentioned, make contact with the frame, so it's something to keep in mind. more

Each one has its own wheel hook and it's gonna hold it down into those wheel cradles. There's secondary straps down there for extra stability, and overall, the result is a very firm hold on the bike. more

The MonoRail is a platform style rack that's gonna hold the bike in these trays and primarily by our front tire. We've got a wheel hook up there that's gonna hold the bike pretty stable and it's gonna hold the tire down here in the cradle to kind of help stabilize that movement. The back wheel has a cradle and a secondary strap to hold that end down as well and it's gonna result in a pretty good fit. more

It's gonna make zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And with the 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it's gonna be good for some e-bikes too with that battery removed. With this bike rack, you do have the ability to tilt it away from the vehicle to get hatch access. more
